Gache Gache lodge is situated across Lake Kariba in the Eastern Basin, on the banks of the Gache Gache River. Currently, we offer Self-Catering only. We have a chef and waiter to cook/serve your meals.
All ten chalets accommodate guests in a private & intimate way, overlooking the river. Rooms are serviced daily. The chalets are either Twin or Double and are rustic in style, each with a shower, flush toilet and wash-hand basin. The small private verandah allows you to enjoy the incredible sights & sounds of the river & wildlife in the area.
The main lodge houses the dining room, lounge & bar area, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views. Relax by the small splash pool whilst partaking in a Gin & Tonic on the spacious verandah.
Activities include game viewing by boat, where you may get to see hippo, crocodile, elephant, bushbuck, impala, waterbuck, warthog and if you are lucky, lion & buffalo. You can try your hand at fishing for the fighting Tiger fish or the delicious tasting (Tilapia) Bream fish if you prefer. On our Sundowner Cruise along the shores of the Gache Gache River, you will also encounter an incredible variety of birdlife, so remember your binoculars... The lodge is renowned for its birds & it has been compared to Chobe by birding enthusiasts - you will be amazed!
The lodge is accessible by boat from Kariba, by road (4x2 or 4x4) and also by air. Our airstrip is one of the best in the country & is only 2km from the lodge. Please enquire and we will gladly arrange all your travel or transfer requirements to suit your individual needs.
Our Campsite is approx. 2km from the lodge and is situated on the banks of the Gache Gache River, under beautiful shade trees. We offer great ablutions, water-points and braai/barbeque areas. Campers are welcome to take advantage of any activities available at the lodge by prior-arrangement.
