Nestled amongst mopane trees on the shores of Lake Kariba, Warthogs is a prime spot for a stopover en-route to Mana, Matusadona and beyond. It’s also a perfect base for a few days relaxing in Kariba, being close to shops, harbours and local attractions. And now there is even more reason to stay...introducing the camp’s new en-suite safari tents. We have a “Classic” double, a “Classic” twin, a “Deluxe” Family (with a double and a bunk) and a “Deluxe” Triple (which can also be arranged as a double + single).
Being situated in a game corridor there are no fences so there is plenty of game around. In the dry season elephants, zebras, bushbuck and hippos are frequent visitors. There are also the occasional stealthy guests: lion, leopard and wild dog.
Warthogs Safari Camp is the only facility with tented accommodation on Kariba mainland so visitors can now experience a little bit of the bush life before heading off into the more remote wilderness.
Our 3 “Compact” Dome Units and the camp site are currently being renovated and we hope to be re-opening in the new year with new ablutions and cooking facilities….everything the budget traveller needs on their adventure!
Our bar/restaurant overlooking the lake offers drinks and meals every day for guests and day visitors. There is also a splash pool. Kids are welcome, so come and spend a few days chilling with friends and family and enjoy the lake. Bring your zebras but please, no dogs… (a National Parks rule). Our accommodation can be booked as room only or including some or all meals. A self cater option will also be available soon….watch this space!
Canoe trips, game drives, walks, houseboats and sailing etc can also be arranged for guests through local agents.
